About the performers:

Headlining the concert is guitarist Ryan Enns who makes his way back to homeland, Western Canada, from Australia, to perform at the OPS as a part of his North American tour. Originally from Whitehorse, Yukon, Enns completed his Bachelor’s of Music degree and Master’s degree in classical guitar performance (2008) at UBC and has performed in Europe, Australia, and North America (where he has recorded five albums and has been broadcasted on the CBC Radio Network.)

Enns is an anomaly among classical guitarists because he is equally at home in the “folk” idiom as he is in the “classical” idiom. As a classical guitarist Ryan performs virtuosic guitar music from South America and Spain with all the technical fluidity and precision one would expect from a guitarist with his academic credentials, but with energy and character that you normally find in the Jam tent at a Folk fest. The common thread that unites his two sides is his ability to engage his audience and share his love of music. Enns will perform solo virtuosic pieces by Paraguayan guitarist Agustin Barrios Mangore and some South American favourites. Besides guitar music, Enns has performed as principle voice with the Laudate Singers and Chancel Choir. Enns will sing some of his own original songs that tell stories about love, fatherhood and the Northern way of life with grit, honesty and humour.

Violinist, Patrick Ernst, reunites with Enns to perform a crowd-pleasing set including tango music, fiddle music, and some of Enns’ originals. Audiences will remember the dynamic duo as an annual highlight of the Young People’s Concert Series on the Tsawwassen stage several years ago. Ernst has completed his classical music studies and is now working towards a Jazz studies degree at Capilano College; and performing with several ensembles: Mariachi Los Dorados, Pearl jig and Poema Flamenco.

  • Michelle.this sounds wonderful! Unfortunately, can’t attend as Christine Magee is performing in Coquitlam for a fundraiser event for orphanages in Burma. I’m thrilled that the Oavtion series proceeds are being given to the Community Fund of Faith. Such a beautiful Outreach to people in our community who are in need! Blessings on you as you continue to bring brilliant music to this community.
