An Evening of Romantic Music at Petra’s by L’Aromas with the Delta Community Music School

It is becoming reality in South Delta that we no longer have to travel far to meet our needs, be they shopping, fine dining, or meaningful entertainment.

On Saturday, February 10th, the Delta Community Music School will present an evening of seasonal Romantic Music, featuring Music School Faculty and Special Guests Infinitus, a string trio, featuring John Littlejohn – violin, Anthony Cheung – viola, and Alex Cheung – cello. Also featured for the event: Natasha D’Augostino – jazz vocals, with Stephen Robb (School Director) – piano, Sejal Lai – soulful jazz violin and vocals, and introducing DCMS student Monica Tamm – voice.

This special evening will be a program in 3 sets of music, jazz standards and music from the Great American Songbook, as well as works by the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, and other original music.

The Music School has been part of our community since 1983, and brings together dedicated musician-teachers to Delta to train and nurture local music. This event’s purpose it to raise funds for Student Bursary and Outreach summer programs. Thrive City Junior String Boot Camp has been held at the School since 2011, and in the past few years has expanded to an overnight intensive, participation-by-audition, Boot Camp. As of this year, this camp will be tuition-free so that young people who could not ordinarily afford the opportunity are now able to immerse in music and grow. The South Delta Jazz Festival is also a significant part of the School’s summer, and all ages take part in the jazz camp.

Tickets: $20 includes admission and a beverage (specialty coffee, beer or wine). Tickets available online at Eventbrite (eventbrite.ca) see below.

An afternoon of classical chamber music with DCMS faculty Louise Southwood (classical guitar) and Cheryl Carruthers (piano).

This event has been postponed until Fall 2017

Featuring works for Guitar by Spanish composers, as well as Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.

Tickets available online in advance from Eventbrite.ca (see below)
