One of our Local Musicians and music educators Brenda Koo is starting a new Concert Band program for adult students who want to start a band instrument with now previous experience. This is not a music school program, but it might be of interest to people in our community looking for this sort of opportunity.
Who: Aspiring adult concert band musicians
What: learn to play a woodwind, brass, or percussion concert band instrument (and how to read music)
Where: Delta Secondary Music Room, Ladner
When: 7:30 – 9:30 Sept 14 and Oct 5 – Dec 7
Why: it is never too late to learn how to ‘blow your own horn’
Cost: $70 for 10 two hour sessions (information night is free on Sept 14 – attendance is highly encouraged)

Other Bands for Adults:
For more experienced players Delta has two adult concert bands that service our area. They are Curt Jantzen’s Delta Music Makers which rehearses in Ladner and the Delta Concert Band which rehearses in North Delta.
Congratulations to the South Delta Jazz Festival for being nominated for the “Special Events & Tourism Award” by the Delta Chamber of Commerce as a part of the Annual “Hats off to Excellence Awards” . Awards will be decided at the “Hats off to Excellence” Awards Gala on Friday November 18, 2011 at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn. The Jazz Festival is one of three finalists for this prestigious award for 2011.
