Cedar Park Church is pleased to launch the second season of the Ovation Performance Series at Cedar Park Church (5300 44th Avenue, Ladner) on Saturday, November 5 at 7pm with the exceptionally talented musicians of the Infinitus String Trio.

The bi-monthly series will showcase high caliber performing artists from across the Lower Mainland. In addition to offering a wide variety of enjoyable and accessible programming for the community, the proceeds will support local charities and causes. The first concert will be benefiting the Community Fund of Faith. Established under the sponsorship of the South Delta Ministerial (ministers, pastors and priests of South Delta churches), the fund was created to provide one time emergency financial support to individuals in the community facing a financial crisis or challenge.

Producer, Michelle Jones is thrilled to present Infinitus – a versatile string trio known for their unique sound, blending strings with vocalizations and vocal percussion (“beat-boxing”), taking the conventional string trio to a whole new level. The Vancouver Sun exclaims, “…it’s amazing the musical concoctions these three award-winning musicians can cook up with just a violin, viola, cello and some vocalizations.” Audiences are in for a real treat and will fall in love with the dynamic performance of familiar polished classical works, original jazz with Latin and hip hop arrangements and compositions.

Formed in 2002 by twins Alex and Anthony Cheung, initially as a string quartet, the group eventually evolved into a dynamic trio with the recent addition of violinist John “Adidam” Littlejohn. The members hold degrees from the University of Michigan and the Peabody Conservatory and have won numerous awards at the local, national, and international level. This ensemble won the grand prize at the 2003 Friends of Chamber Music Competition and have been broadcasted on radio station CO-OP 102.7 FM and CBC Radio Two. Studio credits include numerous commercials and the soundtrack to the 2005 movie, “The Score,” which received Top Ten Film Fest Picks (Georgia Straight) at the Vancouver International Film Festival, a 2006 Leo Nomination (Best Musical Score), and a 2006 Gemini Nomination (Best Original Music Score).

Having performed in over 400 schools throughout Canada and the United States, Infinitus is dedicated to quality educational outreach and nurturing music appreciation in youth. The group is currently on the faculty of the Thrive City String Academy and the St. James Music Academy – both urban outreach music programs.

Tickets ($15) can be purchased at Cedar Park Church during office hours (Tuesday-Friday from 9am-3pm). For more info, call 946-7410.
