From Sarah Westwick:
“I am excited to be offering a free demonstration Colourstrings Music Kindergarten class for three and four year old children on December 12th at 1pm, just before the student recital. Regular classes will then begin in January, on Monday afternoons from 2:15 – 2:55. The Colourstrings Music Kindergarten is a fun yet structured way for young children to learn and understand the basic concepts of music. Each concept – such as pitch, rhythm, form, dynamics, tempo, and note-reading – is taught in a gradual and progressive manner. This approach, developed by Geza and Czaba Silvay in Finland in the 1970’s, is based on the Kodaly principles and helps to develop a good sense of inner hearing which is so helpful when the students then take up an instrument. “
